Scarlet

"A solitary maple on a woodside flames in single scarlet,
recalls nothing so much as the daughter of a noble house
dressed for a fancy ball, with the whole family gathered
around to admire her before she goes."

~ Henry James ~

  1. :) That's what this post gave me, on my lips and in my heart. The scarlet is waning in our neck of the woods.
p.s. Were you in the area of zoo animals on the loose? We saw the story on the news..Zanesville, I believe.

  2. Yes, sadly, most of the scarlet has faded from the trees around here also. There seems to be faded greens, brown, and gold left for the most part... after that it just looks so barren. I did get out early yesterday to take pictures in the garden and around the yard (the pictures are on my Facebook)... As far as the wild animals, we were a few counties away, but what a sad story. Too bad so many animals had to be put down...
